The silent problem

Most learning sites are still written in English. When a math course, a coding tutorial, or a government form stays monolingual, it quietly tells your family: “Move away or fall behind.”

A story from the field – three generations, one cell-phone

Marisol is twelve. Her village sits in the mountains, two hours from the nearest city. Last year her uncle bought her a used Android phone so she could keep up with math. He loaded the "Math Academy" app, proud to give her the same tools city kids have.

The first lesson opened – all English.

Marisol speaks Quechua at home, Spanish at school. She tried, copied sentences into Google Translate, and cried when the quiz timer ran out. Her mother, Rosa, watched and felt the old ache – the internet promised equality, but the doorway was built for someone else.

• Rosa filled out a government benefit form the same night, no neighbor translator needed.
• Marisol’s grandfather finally understood the weather warnings that tell him when to cover the crops.

Nothing else in the village changed – not the school, not the roads, not the income. But the web welcomed them home, and that changed everything.

• Think of one site your family needs but cannot fully read.
• Tag the owner or leave a support ticket: "Please go to this website to make i so I can use it!";
